X-rays reveal decay between teeth, infection at the root, and bone changes long before they’re visible or painful. Our digital x-rays use a fraction of the radiation of traditional film and appear instantly on screen, where we can review them together.
How often?
It depends on your mouth, not a fixed schedule. Patients with healthy, stable smiles may need bitewing x-rays only every couple of years; patients managing active decay or gum disease may benefit from more frequent imaging. We always weigh benefit against exposure and explain our reasoning.
Lead aprons and thyroid collars are used routinely, and expectant mothers should let us know — routine x-rays can usually wait.
